Get creative about climate with children
3 February 2017
Climate change is the biggest challenge we face today, and it’s already having a negative impact on our world. The good news is that there’s something fun, creative and easy that children can do to make a difference.
This February we're asking children to craft messages about how much they love and want to protect our common home. Whether in class, at home, with friends or as part of a children’s liturgy group, there are so many ways for children to show the love for the world.
Children will be joining community groups, premiership football clubs, artists, singers, poets, astronauts and hundreds of thousands of people across the UK to show the love for the people, places and life we want to protect from climate change.
Give a green heart
Make, bake, knit or draw a green heart and tell everyone in your school, local community and their local MP what you would like to protect from climate change.
Enter the Climate Coalition schools heart competition
Hang your green hearts on your favourite tree so that you can inspire others to do the same. Take a photo of your heart covered tree share it on social media tagging #showthelove #schoolsheart and @CAFOD. When you’ve finished hanging and photographing your beautiful hearts send them to the Climate Coalition and they will form part of the Tree Charter Love Tree. Any school contributing more than 100 hearts will receive a 8”x 10” photo of the Heart Tree and a certificate of achievement for the school. Find out more about the competition
