Lent 2017: Schools turn little fish into big fish

11 April 2017

Schools have been organising some brilliant fundraising events and activities for CAFOD’s Lent 2017 Appeal. As a huge thank you, we filmed a short 'fin'terview with Bob, who's been changing lives in Zambia.

From fish face paints, fish hats, fish fayres, fish displays to filling fish with coins, the money raised will make a huge difference to the lives of people around the world. People like Florence in Zambia who received training from our partner, the Sisters of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary. The sisters provided Florence with training in fish farming, giving her tools and some starter fish.  Florence dug a pond, tended to her fish and then began selling them at market.

Thanks to the support of schools and parishes across England and Wales, and because of Florence's determination, something as small as the size of your thumb - a tiny tilapia fish - became something amazing: a future for her children.
