Since the war broke out a year ago in 2023, CAFOD has continued to send financial support to our local partners to urgently scale up their emergency response.
Our local partners are not only supporting people who have been forced from their homes within Sudan. They are also supporting refugees from neighbouring countries who have previously sought refuge in Sudan and their host communities who now find themselves in dire need of emergency aid such as water, food and medicine.
Our partners have been providing emergency food packages to those people who have been forced to leave their homes, refugees, and to communities hosting them. They are also preparing for the distribution of cash vouchers to vulnerable families, so they can buy essentials like food, water and hygiene products themselves.
Other CAFOD partners have been handing out hygiene kits that help with basic cleaning to prevent the spread of diseases.
Helping people access safe water
The ongoing conflict has led to water pipelines being damaged, resulting in communities not having access to clean water and having to resort to fetching water from unsafe locations.
With our local partners, we have been working to repair damaged water pipelines and construct new water facilities to increase the water supply in remote communities.
Your donations are also helping people fleeing to South Sudan
The local partners you are supporting with your donations are also responding to this crisis in South Sudan, where a large number of families escaping the fighting in Sudan have crossed the border.
Forced to leave behind jobs, personal belongings and loved ones, these vulnerable people urgently need shelter, food and water.
Since we launched our appeal in 2023, CAFOD has continued to support our teams in South Sudan so that refugee families can be helped quickly. However, the number of people crossing the border continues to increase. Your donation today can help to make a real difference by providing basic essentials like emergency food, water and shelter.
