“Young people demand change. They wonder how anyone can claim to be building a better future without thinking of the environmental crisis and the sufferings of the excluded.”

Pope Francis, Laudato Si’ 13

On June 26, CAFOD is joining together with over 100 like-minded organisations to ask the government to protect the earth, our common home, and we would love for you to join us. We are facing a crisis, but we are also offered an opportunity to stand up for our brothers and sisters affected by climate change. We will challenge the government to commit to a more ambitious target of reducing UK emissions to Net Zero.

The lobby offers an opportunity for students to learn more about climate change, and have their voice heard by their MP and other Parliamentary figures.

We want to support Catholic schools to participate in the lobby, offering the first 20 students from each school discounted travel to London on diocesan coaches. This discount is limited so book soon to avoid disappointment.

Preparing to attend the lobby?

On Thursday 9 May, there will be a schools webinar from 1-2pm in order to prepare your students for the lobby. We will be joined by Allister Phillip, a youth worker from Caritas in St Lucia, who will share her experience on preparing young people to deal with natural hazards and climate events. You can learn more about the mass lobby and how your school can be part of the solution. If you miss the webinar it will be available online afterwards, and we will provide further information on preparing for the lobby in the next month.

Join our online briefing for schools - 9 May

Safeguarding on the day will be the responsibility of the school leaders. We will provide a risk assessment, which will be available from the 14th June.
