Before Sagal and her neighbours constructed their toilet, life was incredibly hard. Forced to defecate outside in the open and close to their village for safety, serious illnesses like cholera and hepatitis were commonplace.
“Having hepatitis is so painful, my eyes turn yellow-ish, my urine turns reddish" - Sagal
Our local sanitation and hygiene experts worked alongside Sagal and her neighbours, teaching them how to build their toilet. Using wood, grass, reeds and mud from the surrounding area, it only took ten days for their community to transform their lives.
“Our health has improved so much. The toilet has reduced a lot of sickness compared to those days when we used to run to the hospital all the time. " - Sagal
