How to support a CAFOD project

Nitu and her brother

Nitu, like one in ten people in Bangladesh, is registered disabled. But through our partner she is growing in confidence.

At CAFOD we believe everyone has the right to live their life with dignity. Our priority is to equip people with skills and opportunities to live with dignity, support their families and give something back to their communities.

Your giving can change someone’s life

Whilst some supporters want to make unrestricted gifts, which allow us to respond with flexibility where the need is greatest. Others are passionate about specific types of work or have fallen in love with a country that they want to give back to. For that reason, we want to be flexible and increase our ability to match the needs of our supporters, with those of communities in the greatest need.

We have showcased a small number of our projects as an example of the work you could fund, which in turn could make an incredible difference to the lives of our brothers and sisters, whilst fulfilling your motivations.

Mozambique is one of the poorest countries in the world. It is ranked 181 of 188 in the United Nations
Human Development Index. Two thirds of the population live below the poverty line.

We are working with our partner the Salesian Society to support farmers to learn about innovative agricultural techniques.
With your help, we will reach 2,500 farmers and their families or around 15,000 people.

Celina, 18, receives food and help from our partner in order to look after her parents, brother, sister and son.

Our partner Hotline for Refugees and Migrants defends and helps refugees and migrants in Israel.
There are around 600,000 people seeking asylum in Israel, most of whom are from African countries
like Sudan and Eritrea.

Your support can protect their rights, help them access justice and remove bureaucratic obstacles which infringe their
human rights.

Brazil is one of the most unequal nations in the world. Brazil’s six richest men currently own the same
wealth as the poorest 50% of the population (c.100 million people).

Our partner Caritas Brasileira is helping 181 families from six communities in Piauí adapt to the negative effects of climate
change and access sustainable energy by supporting them to install and maintain a solar energy system in each community.

If you would like to hear more about one of these projects, or about other needs for funding, please get in touch with our Major Gifts team who would be delighted to discuss our work.

See the change

We receive three times as many requests for funding as we can meet. A gift of £10,000 or more can change the lives of a whole community forever. Each year we submit project proposals for Institutional funding that are not fully funded, so we are often looking for co-funding to make these projects a reality.

It is important to us that you know the value of your generosity, so our promise to you is that we will report back on the impact of your support, ensuring that you know how your gift has been used to change a community’s story.
