17 April 2022

We would like to wish you all a blessed and happy Easter. Thank you so much for all the support and prayers you gave throughout Lent.

It is love of God that motivates Sister Anthonia in her work and keeps her going when things are tough.

On behalf of the Handmaid Sisters here in Sierra Leone, we are saying a very big thank you for your sacrifices, for your generosity, for all your donations to CAFOD - and we pray for you on a daily basis.

Dear friends from CAFOD, as Caritas Bolivia we join in Pope Francis’ message during this Lent, which calls us to reconciliation. Let us sow today, so that we can harvest tomorrow, carrying out small acts of charity: smiling, giving thanks, greeting each other with joy, telling others how much we love them, listening to each without conflict.

Small acts that lead us to an encounter with Jesus the risen Christ. Together with CAFOD we join in this encounter with Jesus the risen Christ, for the good of our common home.

“The Light of Christ” rings in my ears as I dwell on phrases from the Easter ceremonies. “The Light of Christ” be to those who have lost loved ones in the pandemic and be to those who have lost loved ones in the many wars in our world. Let us draw strength from the Risen Lord, as: “On this night, life triumphed over death. Let  the graves of the dead be opened.”

“The Light of Christ” be to those who are surrounded by hatred and prejudices of all types. Let us draw strength from the Risen Lord, as: “On this day, love triumphed over hate, let women light up their destiny and let your hands build the path.”

“The Light of Christ” be to those suffering oppression and exploitation. Let us draw strength from the Risen Lord, as: “In this hour, peace overcame violence. Let the distances, the borders, be erased, may there be wheat on the battlefields. Let the flowers adorn the walls.” And we are asked to “Remember all the days of your life, repeat it to your children and to your children's children, repeat it from generation to generation: The Lord our God, full of love and mercy, passed among us and filled us with his grace.”

May the strength of the Risen Lord be in us, The Spirit in our spirits, to kindle in us the desire to transform our world into a new creation where all are sisters and brothers and we become true images and likenesses of our living God.
