Brighten up the world this Harvest
22 September 2020
This Harvest your school fundraising is helping communities lift themselves out of poverty.
This year we have all learnt about the importance of washing our hands. But what if there were no soap or water? Your support is helping to change this.
Join our Harvest festival and help build a brighter world, free from poverty. Your school fundraiser could be as simple as doing a bright fundraiser or holding a bright cake sale, to support people affected by coronavirus.
Harvest Fast Day resources and tips
Here are our top tips to help you organise your own fundraiser on Family Fast Day this Harvest on Friday 9 October:
1) Watch and share our film
Getting involved is easy. Watch our film for primary schools and our film for young people in assemblies, collective worship and in the classroom to think about the themes of Harvest and water. Then book in a bright fundraiser on or around 9 October.
2) Join our Harvest online assembly
Our next national assembly “A Harvest like no other”, will reflect on the impact Covid-19 has had on people living in poverty around the world, and how coronavirus has only made their circumstances more challenging for the many who are already living through emergency situations. If we all make a simple action, we can transform millions of lives.
The assembly premieres on Thursday 8 October at 9.30am (for primary schools) and 10am (for secondary schools).
3) Use our Harvest resources
This autumn term we invite you to join with other schools and families across England and Wales to support CAFOD’s Coronavirus Appeal at Harvest.
Browse our Harvest resources to find school fundraising ideas for children and young people.
4) Book a virtual CAFOD school visitor
We have developed an engaging range of online offers so we can continue to support schools. If you would like a virtual CAFOD speaker in an RE lesson, contact email@example.com.
5) Order posters and stickers for your event
Visit the CAFOD shop to order more posters, stickers and collection envelopes to use for your Harvest fundraising event or project.
6) Share your story
We want to celebrate your achievements! Send your fundraising stories to firstname.lastname@example.org or tag @CAFOD on Twitter and Instagram.
