International Day of Charity: How Catholic schools support CAFOD's work

Thursday 5 September is International Day of Charity 2019 and we would like to say a big thank you to all of the Catholic schools that have supported CAFOD in the last academic year.
From bright Harvest ideas, taking on the Give It Up challenge for Lent, to becoming a Zero Hero and taking action for the climate, thank you so much for all you have done to support us.
Celebrating your achievements
Here are some highlights of your fantastic support:
Zero Hero campaign
Over 2,950 schools have taken part in our Zero Hero campaign, calling on the government to commit the UK to a net zero emissions target.
- Get involved: It's not too late to take action! Find out how you can help your primary or secondary school students respond to the climate emergency.
911 schools raised £493,200 at Harvest Fast Day and Lent Fast Day, on World Gifts, cake sales, non-uniform days, talent shows and sponsored events. Thank you all so much.
- Get involved: Plan a fundraiser this term with our A-Z of Bright Fundraisers.
1,002 schools welcomed a CAFOD visitor into their school last year, and took part in workshops and assemblies to learn about Mahinur's family in Bangladesh and the climate emergency.

276 secondary schools registered for the free KS3 and GCSE RE resources and thousands of students have been learning about Catholic social teaching, Laudato Si’, and faith in action in their RE lessons.

A great way to support CAFOD in your school is to make us your charity of the year.
There are so many ways to get involved with CAFOD. Support us through the year by spreading the word about what we do, organising fun fundraising events, taking part in our campaigns and keeping in touch with us on social media.
