The Lord comes that we might find him in this world of ours.

Laudato Si’ #236

Advent brings us closer to Christ who is with us. We are reminded that no one is beyond the reach of God's love.

We wait with joy for the Lord, the hope of the world.

Today, millions of refugees are fleeing war, natural disaster, poverty or persecution in search for a better life.

We are called to reach out with love to our sisters and brothers in need, sharing our hope for a world transformed.

Share the gift of hope this Advent

Here are five things you can do this Advent to reach out and let hope flourish:

1)      Follow our Advent calendar

Take time to read our Advent calendar with daily reflections based on Scripture and the experiences of people living in poverty. We have also created a primary school Advent calendar and an Advent resources for young people.

2)      Hold an Advent service

This Advent service invites you to reflect on how we can welcome Christ into our lives, and to pray for our sisters and brothers who are seeking refuge. Feel free to adapt it for your parish or community.

3)      Enjoy a Divine Advent

Order a beautiful Fairtrade chocolate Advent calendar. Each day includes a heavenly milk chocolate heart. Enjoy these delicious treats as you count down to Christmas.

4)      Give a gift of hope

Share the light of hope this Advent. Sami was devastated when a bomb hit his school, killing his sister. Through the Help a refugee child World Gift, you can help Sami and other children like him rebuild their confidence, learn, and lead a normal life.

5)      Pray with our global family

Download Advent prayers to say in solidarity with our sisters and brothers, that our world may be transformed to reflect the kingdom of God.
