Virtual London Marathon: Running to help rebuild lives
19 October 2020
With the London Marathon going virtual this year, nine intrepid CAFOD supporters took on the 26.2-mile challenge on Sunday 4 October in locations across the UK.
We had runners in County Durham, Hertfordshire, London and Cardiff, who all braved the pouring rain that was sweeping across England and Wales that weekend to support CAFOD's Coronavirus Appeal. Together they raised over £18,000 - an incredible achievement!

Here are some pictures and stories from the day.

Molly (pictured with dad Matthew) said, "CAFOD has been such a big part of my life, and it’s such an amazing cause that I just wanted to help as much as I can and doing this I feel I’ve accomplished that."

Alison said, "The flash floods didn't stop us!"

John ended up running an extra 6 miles because the app didn’t work for the first part of his run!

Eleanor said, "The marathon was a great opportunity for me to challenge myself to do something I would never think of doing whilst also giving back to CAFOD through fundraising to further support the work they do."
Could you join Team CAFOD?

Jeni had plenty of support along the way.
If these amazing stories have inspired you to run for CAFOD, then maybe you would like to consider entering the Royal Parks Half Marathon on 11 April 2021.
We have a few charity places, and only ask participants to pay a £40 registration fee and commit to raise £380.
If you are taking part in any charity event (sporting or non-sporting!) and would like to fundraise for CAFOD, we would love to hear from you. Please get in touch at events@cafod.org.uk.
