Lent calendar prayer and reflection for 26 February
Give, and there will be gifts for you: a full measure… will be poured into your lap; because the amount you measure out is the amount you will be given back.
Have you ever been surprised by a gift of love? Perhaps you remember stopping to chat to someone living on the street, or sharing a cup of tea with someone who is lonely, and they shared a smile or kind words which made your day.
Somehow just by being there for someone, you can receive so much back in return. So much in fact, that it makes your heart sing for joy.
And so it is with God. When we take time to be still in the presence of the Lord, we are transformed by God’s overflowing gifts.
The gift of faith
Rachel Mannix is a CAFOD volunteer. She loves to pray by imagining she is alone with God in a vast and wild landscape. This gift of contemplation enriches her life and the lives of the people around her. She says:
“The beautiful gift of Christ’s sacrifice and the everlasting goodness of the Father transforms our hearts so that we can’t sit still, and we are sent out to be the face of love in the world.”
Let us give more time and space to be with God today, so we too may in turn bring Christ’s love to the world.
Our planet has a system
that by his infinite wisdom
relies on clouds growing heavy
until they are ready to burst
pouring fresh water to revive the thirsting dirt,
crying out, softening the rocks of our hearts
till we’re saturated with grace.
