Here are the current priorities for Parish Volunteers. We encourage you to use the resources provided to hold these activities within your parish this month.
Earthquake and tsunami in Indonesia
More than 1,900 people have been killed and thousands of homes destroyed after a 7.5 magnitude earthquake, which triggered a tsunami, struck Central Sulawesi Province, Indonesia, on Friday 28 September. Our local Caritas agency, Caritas Indonesia - known as Karina - are already on the ground in two dioceses near the affected area - Makassar in South Sulawesi and Manado in North Sulawesi. They are making their way to the worst-hit areas, getting emergency aid to where it’s needed and carrying out rapid assessments. For updates please see our Emergency News page.
The Disasters Emergency Committee, of which CAFOD is a member, has launched an appeal in response to the earthquake and tsunami in Indonesia. CAFOD will share in the money raised by DEC to help our response in Indonesia. Supporters can also donate directly to CAFOD. Harvest Fast Day appeal donations help all our work - including emergencies.
Family Fast Day 2018
Thank you for all your effort in making sure Family Fast Day in your parish was a success.
In order to help us know how to support you better at future Fast Days, please take a few minutes to complete this survey for Fast Day volunteers. Suggestions from previous surveys have shaped aspects of this Harvest’s Family Fast Day. The closing date is Friday 9 November. Thank you.
General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)
There is an important document that we need you to please read carefully.
The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is a law that came into effect on 25 May 2018, and it has important implications for all CAFOD staff and volunteers.
Please take a few moments to read it here: Being a CAFOD Ambassador
Retreat with CAFOD this November
Pope Francis, in his new letter Gaudete et Exsultate challenges us to be disturbed by faith, challenge the culture of consumerism and respond to a profound invitation to care for our common home. Pope Francis asks us to find time for our own holiness.
Come to a CAFOD retreat to do just that. This November, you are invited to take time out of your everyday life to explore Scripture and Church teaching together and be inspired by one another and CAFOD’s campaigning and work overseas.
You are welcome to bring a family member or a friend from your parish along too. Our retreats are popular, so do book your place here.
Join us in the month of Remembrance
During November, we pray for those we’ve loved and lost. It’s a time to come together to honour our supporters and loved ones who have died and reflect on the lasting impact they have had on the world.
Our Memorial Masses are organised by our amazing volunteers. Find your closest here.
If you have any questions or would like to include a name in our Books of Remembrance please get in touch with Roisin at email@example.com or call 020 7095 5348. Alternatively, you are welcome to add a loved one’s name online by filling out the form at the bottom of our Give in memory page.
