Here are the current priorities for Parish Volunteers. We encourage you to use the resources provided to hold these activities within your parish this month.
World Gifts booklets arriving soon
Please look out for a batch of World Gifts booklets arriving at the parish in the next few weeks. Could you please arrange to give them out to parishioners after Masses one weekend in November?
Each World Gift is a real example of CAFOD's work. For example, when you buy our Chirpy Chickens gift for a loved one, you support our work with poor farmers in rural areas.
Giving the booklets out in church enables many more people to hear about this wonderful alternative gift idea for Christmas. Thank you.
Share the Journey reaches 115,000 miles
In June, we reached our goal of walking 24,900 miles, the distance around the world. Since then we’ve managed to walk around the world three more times! That’s 115,000 miles! A huge thank you to thousands of you who achieved this amazing result by walking in solidarity with refugees.
We’ve had some exciting results. In September we handed in a letter to Theresa May in at Number 10, calling for the UK Government to speak up on behalf of refugees and migrants at the UN General Assembly. The Global Compact on Refugees has now been agreed. The implementation will be crucial, and you can read more about that here.
General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)
There is an important document that we need you to please read carefully.
The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is a law that came into effect on 25 May 2018, and it has important implications for all CAFOD staff and volunteers.
Please take a few moments to read it here: Being a CAFOD Ambassador
Retreat with CAFOD this November
Pope Francis, in his new letter Gaudete et Exsultate challenges us to be disturbed by faith, challenge the culture of consumerism and respond to a profound invitation to care for our common home. Pope Francis asks us to find time for our own holiness.
Come to a CAFOD retreat to do just that. This November, you are invited to take time out of your everyday life to explore Scripture and Church teaching together and be inspired by one another and CAFOD’s campaigning and work overseas.
You are welcome to bring a family member or a friend from your parish along too. Our retreats are popular, so do book your place here.
Join us in the month of Remembrance
During November, we pray for those we’ve loved and lost. It’s a time to come together to honour our supporters and loved ones who have died and reflect on the lasting impact they have had on the world.
Our Memorial Masses are organised by our amazing volunteers. Find your closest here.
If you have any questions or would like to include a name in our Books of Remembrance please get in touch with Roisin at firstname.lastname@example.org or call 020 7095 5348. Alternatively, you are welcome to add a loved one’s name online by filling out the form at the bottom of our Give in memory page.
