The waves of death rose about me; the torrents of destruction assailed me.

Psalm 17:4

In today’s psalm, you can feel the fear of the person writing as they face death and destruction. They call out to God, and God, our refuge, our mighty help, hears this cry.

Last August, a powerful earthquake hit Haiti. But despite the devastation, help was at hand. Thanks to your support and that of Catholics around the world, a local Church organisation in Haiti was quickly able to start rolling out assistance to those affected. They provided clean water to drink, food to eat and tarpaulins for temporary shelter.

Let us pray today for all those who face destruction through natural disasters.
