Trivia and quiz nights are an absolute winner when it comes to fundraising. Sociable and fun with a touch of friendly competition - it’s hard to beat plus you'll be holding the event to fundraise for communities around the world! 

How to hold your own quiz night

Questioning where to start? Find the answers below! 

1. Before your quiz

Choose a time and venue. Hold your quiz in your local parish hall, or in another community space. Think about how you will set up your quiz space. We can provide bunting to give it that CAFOD flavour.

Speaking of flavours, why not have some food? This could range from snacks to a full meal. Make sure you include this in the price of admission.

A raffle is also a wonderful addition to a quiz night. You can ask local businesses for prizes. Maybe see if you can get a local business to sponsor the event or match the amount raised.

Make sure you have a confident quiz master to present the quiz. If your Priest will take on the role, that would be great!

2. Promote your quiz

Ask your friends, family and your fellow parishioners to join in, and use social media, email and WhatsApp to spread the word!

Produce a poster (we have a poster template you can use) to display at the venue and the surrounding area; businesses and workplaces are great places to advertise.

You could even approach local newspapers and radio stations.

3. Are you ready to quiz it up?

Charge for admission to cover costs and provide a donation to CAFOD. Provide a contactless device and plate for cash and card donations. Ask the quiz master or someone else to talk about CAFOD’s work to inspire donations. You could even show a video.

Prepare a list of questions to ask and divide these into different categories for each round. You could have a history round, geography round, celebrities round, and even a CAFOD round!
