On your marks, get set...bake!

On your marks, get set...bake!

Get your sweet fix by hosting a bake sale for CAFOD, and together, let’s bake a difference.

Start fundraising

Bake sales have long been one of the most popular ways to fundraise, and for good reason! Who doesn’t love indulging in a sweet treat or savoury snack, while raising money for a good cause?

Whether you’re new to baking or belong in the Bake Off tent, we would love you to raise some dough to support CAFOD’s work around the world!

Follow our recipe for success

You can host a bake sale almost anywhere. At home, work, school or your local parish. Perhaps there’s an event already happening that you could set up a stall at, such as a sports day or a fete at your church.

1. Get everyone on board

Ask for help from your family, friends, work colleagues or other parishioners. There’s lots of talented bakers out there who would love to show off their baking skills. Buy Fairtrade and organic ingredients where possible.

2. Set up and promote your bake sale

Choose a time and date for your event and use social media to spread the word! You could even notify the local press or put a notice in your parish newsletter. See our top 10 tips for more ideas on how to promote your event, and don't forget to set up a JustGiving page for people to donate to.

3. Get baking!

Lay out the tables, decorate them and present your baked goods ready for people to buy. Price up the items and sell for the amount you think people are willing and able to pay. You can always adjust this as you go along.

5. Have some fun!

If you’re feeling competitive, run a ‘bake off’, and ask your bakers to enter a cake to be judged.  People can donate as a way of voting for the different cakes. If you know a particularly accomplished baker, ask them to bake a large cake and auction it off whole! Remember to tag @cafod if you post on social media, or email events@cafod.org.uk to tell us all about your brilliant bake sale.

6. Give yourself a pat on the back

You’ve just helped people around the world working to overcome poverty. Thank you. Don’t forget to pay in your donations through JustGiving, or via our website
