Pope Francis is inviting us to renew our sense of hope by naming this very special Jubilee year 'Pilgrims of Hope'.

He has called on us all “to be tangible signs of hope for those of our brothers and sisters who experience hardships of any kind”.

Here are five easy ways for you to get involved with Jubilee celebrations so you can be a Pilgrim of Hope.

1. Sign up to our free Jubilee online event

A Year of Hope: An introduction to the Jubilee Year

What does Jubilee mean for you and the Church? Join us online on Saturday 18 January from 10:30-12:00 for an exciting introduction to Jubilee with Fr Jan Nowotnik (Director of Mission for the Catholic Bishop’s Conference), Christine Allen (CAFOD’s Director) and Kayode Akintola (CAFOD’s Head of Africa).

With prayers, reflections and music from Ooberfuse (and so much more!), we’ll help you celebrate Jubilee and explore how to be a tangible sign of hope throughout this holy year.

2. Celebrate Jubilee with schools

Children and young people in Catholic schools across England and Wales will be celebrating the Jubilee year with us. Together, we’ll be journeying as Pilgrims of Hope and agents of change. Get involved and join the Jubilee for Schools launch day on 24 January.

3. Call for a cancellation of debt

Traditionally, a Jubilee year is a time to address inequality, restore the land and cancel debts. As we begin Jubilee 2025, we’re facing the most acute global debt crisis in history.

Pope Francis has called for action on the debt crisis this Jubilee, saying: “More than a question of generosity, this is a matter of justice.”

We can stand in solidarity with those people most affected by this injustice by raising our voices and calling for change.
