The war in Sudan has forced millions of families to flee their homes. Now those caught up in the conflict are facing yet another crisis – hunger.

CAFOD has been supporting projects in Darfur since 2004 to provide water and sanitation, health clinics, treatment for malnutrition, education, and support for people in making a living.
Since April 2023 the escalating conflict in Sudan has meant that 8 million people have been driven from their homes into refugee camps, where they are very vulnerable to the spread of diseases. These communities can't return to their land or rebuild their villages.
Our partners are distributing emergency food packages and helping to fix water pipelines damaged in the conflict. We are also supporting children whose families have been displaced by fighting in other parts of the country. We are helping to provide emergency education and support for local families in making a living.

We ask the Lord to open the paths of peace as we pray for the people of Sudan who are facing conflict and hunger.

We are working to respond to the escalating humanitarian crisis. Thankfully, with support from people like you, CAFOD has been able to allocate over £250,000 to its work with local partners, ensuring :
the provision of clean toilets, places to wash and access to clean drinking water for South Sudanese people who had to leave their homes
cash assistance and hygiene services to support displaced people and vulnerable host communities in the White Nile state
support for Ethiopian refugees in East Sudan.
CAFOD is the official aid agency for the Catholic Church in England and Wales.
With your help, we reach out to people living in hard-to-reach places, in war zones and those who are discriminated against.
