Lent calendar for families for 4 March

A fairtrade farmer with her crop

Fairtrade ensures the world’s poorest growers and producers are able to earn a decent living and earn a premium they can put back into their communities.

“Is not this the sort of fast that pleases me… to share your bread with the hungry, and shelter the homeless poor?”

Isaiah 58:6-7

Today’s reading from Isaiah tells us that the fast which is pleasing to God is much more active than simply denying ourselves something we’d like.

It is also looking at our world and trying to make it a fairer place. Making sure that everyone has their share of the gifts that God has given for us all.

It’s Fairtrade fortnight.

Why not find out more about Fairtrade as a family today? Find something at home that your family could swap for Fairtrade in future, like tea, coffee or chocolate.
