CAFOD celebrates 25-year charity partnership

17 September 2025

CAFOD is celebrating an important anniversary this September – a partnership which began during the 2000 Jubilee and has endured to the present day.

For a quarter of a century, CPL Aromas – an international fragrance house - has supported CAFOD to deliver its vital work overseas. From peacebuilding and vocational training in Nigeria, to sustainable livelihood and food security projects in Sri Lanka, over 100,000 people across the globe have benefited directly from CPL’s generosity. It’s estimated that the reach goes far beyond this – with around 1.5 million people positively impacted from the ripple effect of the programmes.

Recently, a team from CPL visited Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta in Colombia to see CAFOD’s partner-led work in action. One of the highlights was a workshop at the Kankuamo Women’s Commission, where CPL delivered a soap-making workshop and fragrance course. These initiatives help support pioneering services for survivors of gender-based violence.

Christine Allen, CAFOD Executive Director, says:

“I am delighted to celebrate this milestone with CPL.  With 75 projects in 24 countries, we have been able to support people to become more resilient against the effects of climate change and help communities to flourish with a variety of health, education, and peacebuilding initiatives.

“Our friends at CPL have not only generously donated over the years but dedicated their time. Hundreds of miles have been run in the London marathon by CPL staff since 2000. At a time when funding for international development agencies is dwindling, corporate partnerships play an important role in helping projects to continue.”

Nick Pickthall, COO of CPL Aromas, says:

“Reaching this landmark 25-year partnership with CAFOD reflects our commitment to helping those less fortunate and a belief in inclusive, sustainable growth. It gives CPL an opportunity to do something outside the world of fragrances and really work with CAFOD on the injustices and poverty in this world and giving our employees a chance to engage in some of those projects as well.”
