A prayer inspired by the Apostolic Exhortation Dilexi te released by Pope Leo XIV on 9 October 2025.
Loving God,
set us free from our self-centredness
and open our ears to the cry
of those among us who are poor,
who hold a special place in your heart.
Open our eyes to truly see one another,
not as problems to solve, but as brothers and sisters,
each with our own gifts to offer.
For it is in these encounters
that we may see the face of Christ
and draw ever closer to you.
Guide us to build bridges, not walls,
offer welcome, not threats,
restore justice, bring about change
and walk together in solidarity.
May your compassionate love flow through us,
so that we might give generously
of ourselves to each other,
work together towards freedom from oppression,
raise up our voices for what is right
and seek signs of your kingdom in our world.
We ask this through Christ our Lord, who is "the Messiah of and for the poor" (#19),
