CAFOD
UK - Volunteer - Colette

Colette is an office volunteer for CAFOD.

Supermum Colette has three sons and one daughter and still finds time to help in the CAFOD Birmingham volunteer centre, keeping all our records shipshape and in good order.

What first attracted you to CAFOD? Did a particular story inspire you?

I have been aware of CAFOD since I was at school, so when I saw the opportunity to volunteer advertised in our parish newsletter, I grasped it.

I knew it was something I could help with. Volunteering at CAFOD gives me the opportunity to put my faith into action and feel that I’m making a difference to the lives of others.

What is your favourite thing about volunteering for CAFOD?

I like the interaction with the parish priests and other volunteers - it gives me an opportunity to have a chat with them semi-regularly. There are some great characters!

What would you say to someone thinking of volunteering?

Go for it! There are many different roles available, not just the administration tasks I do. CAFOD is a friendly organisation that helps to make a positive difference in people’s lives. What’s not to like?
