CAFOD
UK - Volunteer - Orla

Orla took part in CAFOD's Step into the Gap programme.

A week visiting our office in London was all it took to get Orla hooked on supporting CAFOD through prayer, action and speaking up.

How did you first get involved with CAFOD?

I first got involved with CAFOD when I spent a week visiting the office and had the opportunity to meet many partners and hear about the amazing stuff that CAFOD does. This led me to apply for Step into the Gap which is CAFOD’s gap year programme.

What inspires you to volunteer with CAFOD?

My faith and my passion for social justice. I believe that true faith in action is using my privilege for good in the world.

Who are your heroes?

I had the chance to go on an international visit with CAFOD to Cambodia to meet the partners and see the projects. My heroes are all of the amazing people that I met there, as they are struggling through such hardship but they all welcomed us with such open arms and hearts.

What are your plans with CAFOD in the future?

I hope to continue to be involved with CAFOD for the rest of my life whether that be through volunteering for CAFOD, or just supporting them through my actions and words!
