Three New Year's resolutions with a difference
1 January 2022
With your help, 2021 was a year of real change. Together we resolved to stand alongside the world’s most vulnerable communities. Here’s how!
Walking to make a difference
Last year we asked you to help give the boot to poverty by joining our Lent walking challenge. Along with hundreds of other walkers, Alex signed up to walk 10,000 steps a day for 40 days during Lent.
“As someone who possesses huge aspirations to create meaningful change in the international development space, the opportunity to highlight the importance of ending water poverty is a mission I am truly blessed to champion!
"My favourite moment of the challenge was taking in the incredible nature that my home town has to offer. Sharing pictures of myself on my walks to my Instagram page has really proved that young people love supporting each other and has also led to some amazing conversations surrounding sustainable development.”
This year we're asking you to help stamp out hunger, one step at a time.
There are 200 million children in the world whose lives are at risk from malnutrition. So, this Lent, challenge yourself to conquer 200k (5k a day for 40 days!) and help give hunger its marching orders.

Campaign against the climate crisis
In 2021, with the eyes of the world on the UK as hosts of COP26, we asked you to help reclaim our common home. You stepped up in force, with thousands signing our petition to urge the PM to put people hardest hit at the heart of COP26.
And you didn’t stop there! More than 50,000 children and young people took part in our Eyes of the World campaign, and hundreds of you took to the streets - including young campaigner Sasha.
"Being selected to attend COP26 was an amazing opportunity and one that I am so thankful to CAFOD for.
"I believe the youth have so much passion, energy and enthusiasm that it would be a waste to not use it to share knowledge and support the causes we believe in, because it’s never too early to fight for our rights."
This year, it's time to tackle corporate abuse of human and environmental rights. We're calling on the UK government to introduce a new Business, Human Rights and Environment Act to hold business to account when it fails to prevent human rights abuses and environmental harm.

Make your will and make a difference
We also invited you to tackle the to-do list and take advantage of our New Year will-writing offer. Along with Fergus, many of you took us up on the invitation, enjoying the peace of mind that comes with knowing the people and causes you love will be taken care of.
“We’d been putting off writing a will for some time, but my wife and I found the online service very quick and straightforward. It was a relief to get our affairs sorted and make sure our loved ones are looked after, with the added bonus of helping the great work of CAFOD at the same time.”
Fancy taking up our New Year will-writing offer in 2022? You can make your free will in person, over the phone or online.
