As the war in Sudan enters its fourth year, families are still fleeing violence. Our local experts are supporting our neighbours struggling for survival with vital support.
Your monthly gift can get safe water, food, money and health services to families who need practical, long-term help through this crisis.
Kayode Akintola, Head of Region for Africa, recently spent four days with our partners and the Church in Sudan. He reported that:
"Violence is expanding, and communities are increasingly cut off from essential services. Mothers carry children on their backs, young women and men search desperately for water where wells have long run dry, hunger is everywhere.
"But our partner Caritas Sudan, alongside other local organisations, is providing food, cash assistance, safe water, nutrition and more. They are saving lives every day. But the gap between overwhelming needs and available support is massive. This crisis requires sustained, dependable support the kind that allows our partners to plan, to stay present and to keep saving lives even when the world’s attention moves on."

“Through your regular gift you can show that love of neighbour is stronger than violence, stronger than despair and stronger than war.” - Kayode Akintola, CAFOD's Head of Region for Africa.

CAFOD's work in Sudan
Our trusted Church partners have been working in Sudan for over 20 years with your support, helping families to grow food and stay safe from disease.
When fighting broke out three years ago, these local experts stayed to help communities who have been doing all they can to stay safe, and when the conflict got worse and other aid agencies had to leave, we have continued to provide the essentials for our neighbours.
Helping people access safe water
The ongoing conflict has led to water pipelines being damaged, resulting in communities not having access to safe water and having to resort to fetching water from unsafe locations.
With our local partners, we have been working to repair damaged water pipelines and construct new water facilities to increase the water supply in remote communities.
