23 February 2025

A better world needs all of us – and you can join in! Sign up now for the Big Lent Walk

Dermot’s excited about the Big Lent Walk and so are we! It’s a chance for all of us to get together and tell global poverty to take a hike. You too can join the challenge and make a real difference to families all around the world.

Did you know that Dermot has supported us for an incredible 20 years? We’re always so excited to have him on board. This Lent, he believes a better world needs all of us and that’s just what we’re doing.

Thousands of supporters across England, Wales and Scotland are coming together to take on the 2025 Big Lent Walk. So, would you like to join us? Here’s everything you need to know!

What is the Big Lent Walk?

On 5 March, we are challenging ourselves to walk 200km in 40 days over Lent! It’s completely up to you how you choose to cover the distance. You can walk, run or swim anytime and anywhere you like.

You can count your steps to the school run, your Saturday swim or as you stroll to your parish. The kilometres soon add up and you’ll be amazed how you can cover such a long distance!

We’re also excited to be celebrating our third year of our Big Lent Walk! So, we’re making it even bigger by pairing up with SCIAF, the Scottish Catholic International Aid Fund.

You’ll be joining an extra special Big Lent Walk as it’s also the Catholic Jubilee year—a year full of hope! The Big Lent Walk gives us a chance to go outside, reflect and feel hopeful for the year ahead.

Why are we walking this Lent?

The Big Lent Walk is a great way to put your faith into action! Thousands of people across Great Britain will be walking in solidarity with our sisters and brothers overcoming injustice and poverty all around the world.

Every £1 you raise will support communities in fulfilling their potential. As Dermot mentioned, an incredible mum from Kenya, Lokho, is sharing her story of resilience and hope this Lent. Lokho and her young family survived a devasting drought lasting over 40 months. Her family lost everything. When the rain finally came, she began working with CAFOD to rebuild her life.
