Our Stations of the Cross resource is a journey of transformation, and can be used on your own or in a group.

God enters our wounded world and shows his compassionate solidarity with all who suffer.
When Jesus had received the sour wine, he said, ‘It is finished,’ and he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.
For thirty pieces of silver, Judas betrays Jesus. Simon Peter, fearful for his own life, three times denies even knowing him. Pilate finds the prisoner innocent but, eager to wash his hands of the matter, takes the path of expedience and condemns him anyway. Tortured, humiliated and nailed to a cross, Jesus dies as his mother looks on.
So much of what we witness in the death of Christ is present in our world today. Occupation, injustice, betrayal, violence, parents watching their children suffer, grief and pain.
To encounter God within the crucifixion is to be reminded that we cannot ignore the truth of suffering. But it is also to be reminded that God is in it with us. Jesus is with me, with you and with all those who are abused, marginalised, or in pain.
This Good Friday we are invited to a deep solidarity with our suffering Saviour and alongside him, our suffering world. We can bring both our personal losses and griefs and those of our world to this place of redeeming love.
And as we grieve the sorrow and loss around us, we can commit to working for a better future, confident that God is with us.
Prayer
Compassionate God,
you understand what it is to be human,
and are with us in times of suffering.
May we be witnesses
to your great love for the world,
revealed in the cross.
Amen.
