Leader's notes with short talk - parish debt action April 2025
Leader's notes with short talk parish debt action April 2025
Many of the world’s poorest countries have been plunged into a new debt crisis. Despite facing significant poverty burdens, countries are having to make huge repayments on high-interest loans to wealthy banks, institutions and governments, leaving them unable to properly fund essential services.
In this Jubilee Year, Pope Francis called for urgent action to address the debt crisis, saying, "More than a question of generosity, this is a matter of justice."
We are collecting signatures for a global church petition, as part of the worldwide Caritas network, and we need you to take the petition into your parish. We have all the resources you need, including a letter from Father Charlie Chilufya, a priest based in Kenya, explaining what the impact of the debt crisis is on ordinary people.
Order parish resources here or download them below (the poster of Father Charlie's letter can't be downloaded as it's an A3 poster, so please order a hard copy of that from our shop).
