CAFOD Lottery FAQs
Each week, six numbers between 1 and 49 are randomly selected. We then check all eligible entries to see if any match all six numbers, or five numbers, in any order.
Match all six numbers to win £25,000.
Match five numbers to win £1,000.
These prizes come from a shared prize pot. If there is more than one winning entry in a category, the prize pot will be split equally among the winners.
In addition, every week 35 runner-up prizes are guaranteed to be won, with winners randomly selected from all eligible entries.
All draws are conducted electronically using a random number generator that has been tested and approved by a Gambling Commission–certified test house.
The prizes for our weekly lottery are covered by the Affinity prize pot. Different charities run their lottery with Affinity, and all of our supporters contribute to the prize pot by entering.
Everyone has an equal chance of winning. That’s why we can offer a £25,000 jackpot and smaller prizes.
You must be 18 years old to play the CAFOD UK Weekly Lottery and live in Great Britain (England, Scotland and Wales) to claim a prize.
When you enter the lottery, you can choose your own 6 digit numbers or opt for a lucky dip and the system will randomly select your numbers.

CAFOD Lottery
For each £1 we raise through the weekly lottery, the charity receives 50p (50%).
The remaining amount is used to cover the prizes offered (18.4%) and administration costs (31.6%).
Every entry costs just £1 per draw and the amount debited will depend on the number of draws you have selected and on the number of Fridays between each payment.
For example, if you play just one line per week (£1), your Direct Debit will be £4 or £5 (depending on how many Fridays are in that month).
You can choose from the 1st or 15th of every month. Your Direct Debt will be collected on your chosen date or next working day and a schedule will be sent to you in advance.

No, the money collected through sale of entries to the lottery draws does not qualify for Gift Aid, as it is a payment for your lottery number.
The odds of winning a prize in the weekly lottery is 1/63.

You are more than welcome to enter more than once. You can enter up to five times per week, paying on a monthly basis by Direct Debit.

Each week you have the opportunity to win one of 37 cash prizes:
1st Prize: £25,000, 2nd Prize: £1,000 and 35 guaranteed Runner-up Prizes: 5 x £20, 10 x £10 and 20 x £5.
Following the draw, you will be notified by email where possible with funds subsequently deposited directly into your bank account.
In the event of an undeliverable email you will be notified by post.
The 1st prize and 2nd prize winners will be notified by telephone with confirmation and cheque sent by post.
It is important to keep your details up to date so we know where to send any winnings. You can make updates at any time by managing your account online.
Every Friday afternoon the results will be made available online.
From signing up you will be entered into the next available draw 16 working days later. This gives us time to complete the necessary administrative processes including payment verification, claiming your lottery payment from your bank, and the payment entry being received for the draw.
