Lent calendar- 14 February

Hands resting on a Bible.

Well, now is the favourable time; this is the day of salvation.

2 Corinthians 6:2

It can be all too easy to put things off. To think about doing something in an hour, a day, a week, at any more convenient time. But as St Paul reminded the Corinthians, now is the favourable time.

Lent is upon us once again and there is no time like the present. This is the season when we are called to take stock of our lives, to renew our relationship with God and with one another.

It is a time to repent, to seek forgiveness, knowing that God is “all tenderness and compassion, slow to anger, rich in graciousness and ready to relent.” It is a time to pray, to fast and to share what we have with others.

So, let us commit to not putting off until tomorrow what we can do today. Let us approach this Lenten season filled with the joy of God’s help, and open our hearts to be transformed in prayer and reflection, inspired by the stories we will read and the actions we choose to take.

Prayer

Lord, you are rich in mercy and you call us back to you. Open our hearts as we seek this Lent to draw closer to you. Fill us with your love and lead us in turn to act with love towards all our sisters and brothers. Amen.

Act
