Penitential prayer for the care of creation

You may like to use this penitential prayer as part of a Mass or a liturgy.

Leader: We recognise our world is in need of healing. Let us ask God for forgiveness for the times we have neglected to care for the gift of creation.

Leader: Jesus, healer of all... Group: Have mercy on us.
Leader: Jesus, friend of the poor...
Leader: Jesus, beholder of beauty...
Leader: Jesus, source of light and hope...

Leader: Let us turn back to God with all our hearts as we say:

Leader: For our Sister, Mother Earth... Group: We sing your praise.
Leader: For your closeness to the poor...
Leader: For the smallest of creatures...
Leader: For your tenderness and love...

Leader: May God who is love have mercy on us, forgive us our sins, and lead us to everlasting life.
