About your Community Participation Coordinators in Salford

Simon and Steve CPC in Salford

Simon and Steve are your Community Participation Coordinators

Your CAFOD representatives in Salford diocese would love to chat about how you can get involved and will help to find the right volunteer role for your skills and time.

I am Simon Holleron and I work alongside Steve Burrowes, part-time,  as one of CAFOD in Salford’s Community Participation Coordinators. (C.P.C.) I joined CAFOD in October 2018 and after over 20 years as a primary school teacher. In fact,  I still teach on the days when I am not working for CAFOD. I have also been part of L’Arche in Liverpool with whom I am still associated.

As well as recruiting and supporting our fantastic parish volunteers with Steve, I am responsible for having an overview of our school volunteers, supported by our wonderful Education Volunteer Coordinator Briege Sivills. Together we ensure that schools are aware of the latest news from CAFOD and support our volunteers who are visiting schools.

The thing I enjoy most about CAFOD is meeting and working with supporters and colleagues who all have the same goal to create a real positive impact upon the lives of some of the world’s most vulnerable people.

I joined CAFOD in November 2015 serving 27 years as a secondary school teacher so I still got the best bit of teaching – working with amazing and inspiring young people with the added bonus of working with the adult community who aspire, in whatever way they can, to help make a difference and transform lives.
