Jubilee Year of Hope
This Jubilee year, Pope Francis has called on us to be ‘Pilgrims of Hope’. This is CAFOD’s mission - to bring your love for your neighbour to people suffering the impacts of war, global debt and climate change and to give them the support, skills and tools they need to find their hope for the future.
Lokho's story
Lokho lives in the Marsabit region of Kenya where her community are living witnesses to hope.
When Lokho’s animals died in a drought she had no way to feed her family. She teamed up with a group of women and reached out to Wakera, a CAFOD partner. Wakera shared his skills for growing food in harsh climates and provided them with seeds, tools and shade nets, to protect their plants from the scorching sun, while still allowing every drop of precious rain through. Lokho's family now have food and are saving money from the produce they sell for when there are no more rainy days.
