Neil Roper, CAFOD's Fundraising Events Manager, tells us all about this year’s Great North Run.
On Sunday 13 September, over 20 members of TeamCAFOD lined up for the Great North Run. The half marathon, which is one of the biggest and best in the world, attracted 63,000 runners, starting in Newcastle and finishing on the seafront in South Shields.
The CAFOD Team were amazing, and it was a real privilege to work with them and run with them. Nearly half the team met up at the beginning, and we were able to thank most of the team at the end.
I was incredibly proud to be wearing my CAFOD T-shirt and representing such a vital and relevant cause
I really felt much more of a sense of pride and purpose knowing I was doing this for CAFOD
I was inspired, as an overseas priest serving in England, to take every step of the 13.1-mile journey with courage, gratitude and appreciation
