Two weeks after devastating earthquakes struck northern Venezuela, the emergency is far from over. Thousands of families remain without safe shelter, communities are still coping with missing family members, the loss of loved ones and little to no livelihoods, and the long road to recovery is only just beginning.
On 24 June 2026, two earthquakes measuring 7.2 and 7.5 on the Richter scale struck northern Venezuela, causing deep sorrow, loss of life, and severe material damage in various regions of the country.
From the very outset, our local partner, Caritas Venezuela, has remained committed to its mission: to stand by those who are suffering, especially the most vulnerable. While the immediate search and rescue phase is ending, Caritas continues to provide emergency assistance and accompany communities as they begin rebuilding their lives.
