Pope Francis urged political leaders at COP28 to agree to the "elimination of fossil fuels".
The Holy Father's words were heard, with governments at the summit committing to "transition away" from coal, oil and gas. But we know that those pledges don't go far enough – and that leaders need to turn words into action so our global family doesn't pay the price of their inaction.
That's why we're joining a vigil at the start of Lent to pray for politicians to act and show they have 'No faith in fossil fuels'.
The vigil will give witness to our call for decision makers to have a conversion of heart during this Lenten season by committing to the action we need to tackle the climate crisis. We'll be taking part alongside friends from Christian Climate Action, Christian Aid, Tearfund and a number of Christian groups.
