The Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) has raised over £10m million for the appeal which launched on Wednesday, July 1st.
Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) charities and their local partners continue to work around the clock to reach people with shelter, water, food, and medical care after two devastating earthquakes hit Venezuela.
Millions of people have been affected by the disaster, with more than two million in the worst impacted areas. Over 96,000 buildings are believed to have been damaged or destroyed.
Adjoa Andoh MBE - actor and International Rescue Committee Ambassador who fronted the launch of the fundraising appeal on the BBC said,
“The generosity of the British public is astonishing! Your kindness is already making an incredible difference to the lives of people in despair through your support of the DEC charities, including the International Rescue Committee, who, with your help, are working tirelessly in the aftermath of the earthquakes.
Thank you to every person who has donated to the appeal so far - without you we would struggle, with you we can bring hope.”
