This Lent, you’ve been a ‘Pilgrim of Hope’

Happy Easter from CAFOD’s Director

Hello, I’m Christine Allen, the director of CAFOD.

Happy Easter!

I hope you had the chance to watch my video message above, but if not, I want to let you know just how grateful we all are at CAFOD for your tremendous support throughout Lent. And what a wonderful opportunity this Easter is to celebrate, with joy, our renewed sense of hope.

Thank you all so much for all you’ve done.

Over the last 40 days you joined together with CAFOD supporters across England and Wales to reflect, give and pray.

So many of you took part in our epic fundraising challenge, walking 200km to help fight global poverty in the Big Lent Walk. For our Lent Appeal, you donated generously to help hard working mums like Lokho in Kenya with innovative shade nets (and it’s not too late to give!). And you quickly responded to the Myanmar Earthquake Appeal, helping to bring comfort and relief to families affected by providing everyday essentials.

You prayed with us for a better world – the world God intended – where no one has their life limited by injustice and poverty. Your passion, your energy, your love – your active hope – is proof that this better world is possible. All it needs is all of us.

Thank you for your compassion and your commitment.

Now, as we celebrate Easter, join us in prayer to rejoice in the Resurrection of Christ and the hope of salvation. And whether you’re attending mass locally, or spending time with your friends and family, I truly hope you have a wonderful time celebrating Easter.

And as we continue on our Pilgrimage of Hope throughout this very special Jubilee Year, I look forward to sharing news and updates about even more ways you can get involved to help build a better world.

Once again, thank you for all that you do.

And may the peace and joy of the risen Christ be with you.

God bless,

Christine Allen, CAFOD Director

Lent Appeal 2025

Spread hope

It’s not too late to give to our Lent Appeal. You can still make a big difference today and help build a better world – the world God intended – where everyone has the opportunity to flourish. Stand alongside mums like Lokho who is working hard with innovative shade nets so she can continue to grow nutritious veg for her family in harsh weather.
