Intention
Today we pray that our ears may be opened to “the cry of the earth and the cry of the poor” and our hearts moved to respond.
Canticle of the Sun
“We praise you, Lord, for those who pardon for love of you,
who bear sickness and trial.”
Reflection
As Pope Leo XIV said in his message for the World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation this year, “In a world where the most vulnerable of our brothers and sisters are the first to suffer the devastating effects of climate change, deforestation and pollution, care for creation becomes an expression of our faith and humanity.”
As we near the end of the Season of Creation, we hold all those who are feeling the impacts of the climate crisis in our prayers. May we be moved to respond to “the cry of the earth and the cry of the poor” as we seek to live out our faith.
Prayer
Creator God,
open our hearts to our brothers and sisters
who endure violence and threat,
who strive to overcome poverty.
Forgive us for the times we are indifferent.
Strengthen us as we face these challenges together, Lord,
and lead us to follow the example of St Francis,
as we seek to build a better world
and sing a song of praise for all creation.
St Francis, pray for us.
