Prayer for World Humanitarian Day

God of steadfast love,

We grieve for those caught in violence and bloodshed,
those forced to leave their homes and livelihoods,
and all who experience poverty and marginalisation.

We give thanks for the courage and compassion
of humanitarian workers in places of crisis and conflict.
Protect them and strengthen them in their vital work.

Inspire leaders to work for peace and justice,
and lead each of us to play our part,
so the dignity of all people may be recognised,
and all may flourish in safety and hope.

Amen.
