Get involved this Advent

This Advent, gather with your local parish or community and host your own event!

Fundraising for CAFOD can spread festive cheer in more ways than one! Whether you're singing carols, sharing mince pies with your parish, or taking part in a Christmas-themed fun run, you will be sharing hope with families around the world who need it most.

Here are some of our festive fundraising ideas to get you started!

Carol singing for CAFOD

Sing, choirs of angels!

Hold your own carol service in your parish - download our carol service toolkit to help you plan your service.

Or, gather a group to sing outside your local supermarket or train station. You need a core person or group who can carry the singing, and then recruit more to come and join in the fun. Invite your church, friends, or local groups to come and sing - the myrrh the merrier! Download our carol sheet and print enough copies – you can reuse them next year too.

Make sure you remember to get permission from your parish priest (for a carol service), or the landowner and your local council (for carolling in the community).

Mince pies and mulled wine

Why not continue the festivities by offering mince pies, hot drinks or mulled wine after your carols? Download our mince pies toolkit for the perfect finale after all your singing exertions!

Serve mince pies, mulled wine, hot chocolate or any other festive treats to your parish or community. You could combine this with your carol service, after mass, or as part of a Christmas-themed event like a quiz or bake sale. Eat, drink and be merry!

How to collect donations

  1. Order a contactless payment device from CAFOD.

  2. Order CAFOD lanyards so people can simply scan the QR code.

  3. Contact your local CAFOD representative to get some collection buckets and tins. Follow our helpful advice for paying in your fundraising.
