Hi there! I’m Ged Edwards and I’ve worked for CAFOD since 2012. I live in Rainhill near St Helens and I’m passionate how we can change things through CAFOD when we give, act and pray in our work here in parishes and schools. I’m inspired by our volunteers’ brilliant ideas and efforts across the Archdiocese whenever I catch up with them.

And your efforts are really worth it! In 2017, I visited the Philippines to help our partners develop volunteering and saw first-hand results of the £1m the people of the Archdiocese raised in 2013 for the people affected by one of the largest ever storms, Typhoon Haiyan. I saw the amazing changes we help people make for themselves and their communities.

Respecting the earth, its people and life on it more, and so tackling climate change is central. So, as people of faith, campaigning for this with others is so important and it is steadily helping change things for the better around the world.

I joined CAFOD in October 2015 and manage a fantastic team of CAFOD volunteers who engage in CAFOD’s work, and share it with their parishes and schools to encourage support for our appeals, and participation in our campaigns.

My favourite part of my job is campaigning and I volunteer in this role too. I am passionate about caring for our planet. I have discussed the issue of climate change with my MP, and attended the COP24 in Poland with a team of CAFOD campaigners. I love being part of a huge group of people with a shared goal of global justice.
