Parish volunteer resources

The beginning of June is National Volunteers’ Week. Thank you for so generously sharing your time to build a fairer and brighter world where all of our sisters and brothers can flourish. All of our 3,000 volunteers are vital in spreading the message of justice and peace in our parish and school communities. Please click here for a special thank you message from Christine Allen, CAFOD’s Director.

A resource for your parish

Fix the food system

Join CAFOD's new food campaign

Our new campaign is called Fix the Food System. Let us know if you’re planning to use the parish resources pack with your parish. The resources are a Leader’s Guide and a participants’ leaflet for an activity in the parish called Fix the Food System: a 7 station journey, where we invite people to write to the Foreign Secretary, Liz Truss. The same message can be sent online here . We’re delighted to report that the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office of the government (FCDO) have already been in touch with us after receiving the first few thousand messages from CAFOD supporters.  more resources are available to order on the CAFOD online shop

Step into the Gap…

Step into the Gap volunteers in Rome

Step into the Gap volunteers in Rome 2022

…offers the unique opportunity for 18-30 year-olds to develop leadership skills within a full-time gap year volunteering UK placement. Enjoy immersive and interactive experiences as an ambassador for CAFOD and inspire the next generation of young people to act for the most marginalised people and work towards a fairer world. Placements are based in the UK, either in a youth retreat centre or Catholic Secondary school. This year, our gap year volunteers met with CAFOD partners in the Global Catholic Church in Rome and enjoyed a retreat weekend in Assisi.

So, are you ready for your next step? Or could you pass this on to someone who might enjoy this gap year placement?

Online Events

Encounter and Listening: A Synodal Journey with CAFOD. Tuesday, 7 June 7:00-8:30pm. Join us online for a special inter-generational Synodal conversation for CAFOD volunteers and friends. Pope Francis has called us to journey together, to discern how we continue to be prophetic witnesses for justice, embracing the entire family of humanity. We are taking this moment as part of our 60th anniversary year at CAFOD to unite as volunteers and friends across the generations, to encounter and to listen to one another and to the Holy Spirit. Register here to be part of this conversation.

60th Anniversary Mass Join us to celebrate the 60th Anniversary of CAFOD. We will mark this occasion with a special Mass on Friday 10th June at 12.30pm live streamed from St. George’s Cathedral in Southwark, London. Mass will be celebrated by Bishop Stephen Wright from Birmingham. We are pleased to announce that the acclaimed London Community Gospel Choir will be leading the singing. We will joyfully give thanks for our global partner organisations, our volunteers, supporters and staff past and present.
